GoSkopelos.com team very often will
present you a Hot or Not list of
things to do & pay attention, while you're on the island.
Walk @Hora (Skopelos Town)
Beautiful paved alleys, narrow paths, flower gardens
and stone built houses on an uphill town... is what you will enjoy if
you like to walk!
Fortunately, the town has been honored designated as
pas a Traditional Settlement of outstanding beauty (by
Presidential Decree 594,13/11/78). You may
start from the port and climb up (use
the steps from the church of Panagia
or Panagitsa) to the
castle (a 13th century Vetetian) that was built on the ruins
of an
ancient acropolis.
There
are around 120 churches and chapels almost at
every corner! Stop for a coffee or a desert (avgato, hamalia, rozedes)
and the unique
skopelitian cheese-pie.

Then
continue to visit the Local
Folklore Museum a building furnished in the local style
with aim is to recreate a typical Skopelitan household.
The basement
has a collection of agricultural implements, the ground
floor has a sitting room, the first floor has a bedroom and living
room, and the second floor is the studio of Yiannis Lemonis, a
local craftsman. His specialty was tiny ornamental knives. And
afterwards, just hang around until the
night falls to go for some fine Skopelitan wine at the local tavernas...
